Journal entry 1 1-27-15

Greetings and salutations,

For my five pictures I chose the ones below.  Each one has a dynamic level of colors and a level of thought that makes me want to talk to the person that did these and ask what inspired them, what tools they used.  The first one is very interesting to me in that I am really struggling to figure out what the overlaid image is.  I think it's leaves, but it is quiet hard to tell. :)  And nearly as such with the second image.  The third image is a simple collage idea, not a lot of conflict, but very well rendered in my opinion.  They used abstract forms and something that resembles flowers, then colored the areas they wanted to bring about that perception of the woman's face.  The fourth one was simply what I am calling a digital mosaic.  I would totally expect to see this in a cathedral window.  The artist also used a lot of texture in depicting the different tiles of of the man and the dragon, and then a more fluid idea for the blue.  While the fifth picture reminds me of something someone might have done after a drug induced inspiration, I feel as though there is a story to be told about the fellow in the center.  The overlaid use of colors helps add that psychedelic feel to the over all piece.

I found tons more that I would have liked to add, but these were the ones that stood out the most. :)

Have a great and awesome and wonderful day!

  1. These collages are pretty awesome. I like the textural vector quality of the first two. They feels like computer-generated watercolor paintings. I especially like the collage of shapes that creates the woman's face. Some pieces of it are reminiscent of a paisley pattern. You chose some great examples.

  2. I also like the collage with what looks like flower petals forming a woman's face. But the one I like the most is the patterned one creating a warrior man on a dragon's back. It has a lot of tile strokes that make it appear much like a mosaic in a Middle Eastern setting. Very nice examples.

  3. Those are amazing collages you found. I like the way the texture and color scheme of the first two images. The face collage with the petals forming it is really appealing to look at because of how it blacks out the background and lights up the face. I also like how the dragon and soldier are formed from several different images. The last collage...I'm not quite sure what to think of it. You did choose great examples though.
